Will Medical Debt Be Cleared When Bankruptcy Is Filed?

My family has recently taken on a great deal of debt. Much of this debt comes along with the bills that are piling up from a recent medical issue of a family member. With all that is going on with our finances, I am now looking into some of the options that are available for filing for bankruptcy so that I can try to salvage some of what we have left.

I know that for most people, the main goal is to try to file for a Chapter 7 so that they can discharge all of their debts and remove all of the financial burden that they have. However, I do know that a number of the debts are known to be un-dischargeable. Even though credit card debt remains to be something that can be easily discharged, I do know that some are not touchable.

Recently I heard that all of your medical bills and any general unsecured debts an be completely wiped out if you choose to go with a Chapter 7 and that there is no limitation on the amount of medical debts that you can get rid of. Is this true?
